Well I did it I put a new 870 on lay-a-way. Wooden stalk , 28" barrel and supper full chock tube, in the 3 1/2 " chamber.

Nice feel to it too. I hope to use it this year for Turkey!

D45/70....I had two of those shotguns at the house, son took his with him when he relocated etc. I had that shotgun for at least 3 years I believe. I patterned the gun and it shot #4's like you would not believe. This gun could for sure, take big Toms out to 50 yards with No sweat. However, I traded it too for another shotgun I thought I needed more. It also had the slug barrel with it too.

D great pictures.  You look like your 870 does it all  soup to nuts.

I've got 3 870s.  IMO the best all-round gun to own, if you only could have one gun.  The first one I bought in 1960, 12 ga with a 30 inch full barrel.  It was a field stock, and after 10,000s round I fitted with a 28 inch barrel and trap stock; it is  now my trap gun  drives all the single barrel and O/U guys nuts on doubles.

Got a 12 870 with a poly choke on a 26 inch tube.  Used last month to hunt pheasants (18 birds) and wild boar with a rifled slug.  I've got two barrel for it a modified with a optic signs and switch to a short barreled with a red dot for deer/boar.

For rabbits I got a 870 special light 20 ga.  Short barrel choke tubes and  beautiful English cut stock.  It is for over birds and rabbits.  wonderfully light.

Never had a failure with an 870, none of mine have seen a 'smith.

Easy to disassemble and clean also, not like those auto and o/u guns.

D, I got to admit that is one stout looking buck you shot with your 870 Remington. Looks like you are not letting any dust settle on that shotgun by golly.
