blk,

The folks I was going with didn't even show up.  I didn't see  anything fly until around 10 a.m. so I went scouting.  Saw 3 coyotes, and spooked some doves of some trees - could have shot them but didn't (don't know why).  Got a real good take on the deer ground I'll be hunting.

I put doves in with duck, I don't know how to cook them.  I call them flying liver snaps - and let others cook them if I shoot them.

Hey didn't that flash flood happen by you.

Ya we had some flash flooding, still have one child missing, he was swimming in a flooded creek and disappeared, gotta wonder how brilliant his parents are.

The first two days for me have been a lot of fun.  I got 9 birds yesterday and 5 today, hunted about 1hr both times.  Had a lot of fun.  It feels great to be out hunting again, that's for damn sure!

Spot, let me give you a good way to cook 'em:

Make a slit on either side of the breastbone.  Stuff each slit with cream cheese and a slice of a jalapeno.  Then wrap the whole thing in bacon and run a toothpick sideways through the bird (just to hold the bacon).  Then throw them over some mesquite or hickory and let them cook from the bottom up the whole time.

Goooood stuff.

Thanks Tex,

I'll have to give that a try - there are more birds here right now than I have seen in YEARS!

I got to get out!  But it's budget time and I'm still working tonight.....Dang, Dang, Dang......
