Here's another Kansas buck, and shot by a lady too! Robin is the wife of Chuck, who's pictures Rob posted for me recently. Looks like her buck is older than Chuck's, and maybe on the downhill side of rack size. Another nice chunky deer and not one of the youngsters. She used a 6x284 and 95 ballistic tip. She shot it square thru both shoulders and as usual the bullet exited. Range was about 125 yards. Our rifle season opened last Wednesday and she killed this buck this morning. Her first deer too! Looks like Chuck has some competiton now. |

These big ol deer walk around with sort of a stiff leg straddle with the ears layed back. I'ts like it took them allsummer to develope a paunchy belly, whose emense profile takes them out of the deer sleek club and plants them right in thr middle of a trouble makers.., and they want to show off. If a deer can learn to be haughty, or concieted, or learns to be pushy, they sort of become visble later in the morninghanging around the does and trying to impress them. Pushy even ! We like then then beause they don't notice getting close to us is a bad idea, until whammo! It's too late. I saw somew chasing today. but expect it is about done for
or down here. |

Nice looking animal and Robin looks pleased as punch. I think our rut is winding down too. It's as much fun to watch the antics as anything when they let their guard down.
