Today, I saw the first Night Force Scope with the lens blown up. It was on a .50 BMG Rifle that had fired under 100 shots (I saw the log book). When I saw it, it was full of condensation and made my fingers wet. Man am I glad I shoot Leupolds............Kingpin

King, I have nothing against Leupold,(I own Six myself).But they are getting a bad rep down here amongst LF target shooters with the vari X and vx 3 line being the most returned scopes of any of the three big target scopes(NF,Leupold,Weaver). One of our major gunsmiths refuses to stock any of their variable models anymore. I will always take a NF over a lupy for target work.Mine have well past 1000 rounds and no trouble.Everyone makes a lemon guess. Macca |

Was the scope in question an NXS, or was it the Benchrest model? Haven't had any problems with my NXS. Of course, it's only on a 308 with 584 rounds through it, not on a 50BMG. I wonder how the scope was mounted, as Nightforce strongly urges in the manual that standard type rings not be used, but to use something like the Leupold MkIV or Badger, and that they be lapped. Like Macca said, it might have been a lemon. Personally I like my NF as much as my Leupys. |
