   Local NWTF Chapter Holds Annual Banquet

The Havre Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) held its 

annual banquet on Friday, March 10th in the Olympic room of the Duck 

Inn. Adrian Doucette, local representative of the NWTF, commented on 

the extraordinary turnout for the event. “The banquet went very well.  We 

don't have the final dollar numbers finished yet but we did sell all the 

tickets (160 people). The chapter anticipates the funds raised to be used 

to complete additional turkey transplants next winter in the Chinook 

area.”

Recently, four dozen wild turkeys were released north of Chinook, and 

another group was released near Zurich. The turkeys, which will be 

“huntable” after a few years of population growth, were part of an effort 

by the NWTF and Montana fish, Wildlife and Parks to establish the birds in 

the area. Robert Munson, the landowner where the turkeys were released, 

was recognized for his contribution during the banquet. 

The winner of an NWTF scholarship was also named during the event.  

“The NWTF scholarship winner for the area was Bill Siebrasse, a senior at 

Havre High School.”
