Been helping some folks pick CCW weapons the last few months. Most are not routine shooters. All say they want and have to have a laser sight! Personally I see no value in a red laser in a handgun for CCW. I've told them all the negatives of the laser sights, but they all still bought them. Best reason I heard was "they're cool". Personally I'd rather have seen them put that $$$ into a higher quality or more practice ammo What are your thoughts? Am I all wet, as usual? |

Well practice is the best idea and I think folks that have lasers will figure they cannot miss with one so will not practice. Unless you get the laser grips they just add more bulk to the gun. I toyed with the idea when I had the Hi Point because it had a rail I soon figured it was not my cup of tea.

Thanks to TV and the movies, EVERYONE "needs" a LASER sight. First, LASERSdon't work well in bright light. Second, If they are a "so-so" shooter, a LASER won't do ANYTHING for them. Third, lots of practice and muscle memory will do more that any LASER could ever accomplish. Fourth, most novices don't have a clue as to what LASER means or what it could possibly do for them. Fifth, most batteries for LASERS are expensive......................Kingpin

There are times when a normal man must, spit in his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

The only value, I see in a laser, is as a deterrent, when used by a LEO. It says "If you don't comply, I'll shoot you, where that dot is". In a self defense situation, time would be better spent, dealing with the threat. I do have a light on house gun, for target ID, not aiming, although it does shoot to center of bright spot. |
