This is going to be a really short post.

Today was the last day of elk season. I had a cow tag for an area about 50 miles south of my house. I hunt there every other year and never have hunted more than 3-4 days and have always got an elk. This year their was no shortage of elk. I saw some every day I was there. some days I saw 100-200 head. I hunted 16 days of the season. I never could get a shot.

I snuck up to within 100 yards of bulls that I couldn't get a good look at to see if they had horns. Sure enough they did.

In total I saw over 100 elk on private land that I didn't have permission to hunt on.

Early in the season I snuck up to within 150 yards of two calves hoping to see a cow with them and didn't see one.

Needless to say I didn't get an elk.

My antelope season was cut short because my wife planned a vacation during that season. For the same reason I didn't get a deer tag.

On the up side, When we were on vacation I got to go hog hunting. It wasn't exactly what expected but it was a heck of a lot of fun. I hope to do it again but next time I'll do one of the other hunts they offer.

I didn't totally get skunked but really close.

It's all fun right???
I expected the pigs to be much fatter?
I need to go hog hunting!!!

We did a little better and we still are hunting, not this week but still have damage hunts, late elk hunt, and a new black powder season, but we had to work for all but one, the GD's deer. He deer was on a private ranch on kids season. Drive around till you see the one you want.
Not to brag and we donated most of the deer.
Here is the totals for the 4 of us.

5 Antelope three of them very nice MT goats.
3 fat mule deer bucks, 1 fat whitetail.
6 does two where whitetail.
1 small bull elk.
so far.
The kids have two cow elk late elk hunt yet.
The GD and I are in for a damage hunt for mule deer doe. We have a lottery and our numbers are #8#9 so if there is a hunt in our area we will get tags normally it's two each. Lats year My son and I got it and getting 2 each is easy and hardly no walking or work.
We had one Crane tag left unfilled but should have had it. One swan tag I should have filled a dozen time but didn't.
Still wolf hunting to April, and general elk cow shoulder seasons till then too.

BUT it's coyote time now!

You guys have had a good year.

I enjoyed every minute that I was in the field. No complaints.

The thing I really wish would have happened is my grandaughter would have got something.

Since Oct 1, I've hunted big game 27 days...being retired is great.  wish my legs had more walk/drag in them.  Got one antelope, but no whitetails.  even though my list is much smaller than D's  I've had a good year, and will probably get put another 15 day for deer.

Snow clouds and pockets of blue sky over leafless oaks was beautiful saturday.

Got a buck antelope in New Mexico in September. Was bear hunting there also but didn’t get a shot. Saw three.
Went antelope hunting in October and got a doe. Flew out to South Dakota for pheasant hunting. Always a ton of birds out there. Put in a lot of time whitetail hunting in MN and WI but didn’t get one. First time since 1990 that I didn’t get one. I passed on a few early in the season because of the higher than normal temperatures. By the time it cooled down I didn’t have any opportunities.

We had loaded the plastic tote container on the plane. Crazy heavy. I can’t remember if it was cranberries or cherries? Little red orbs anyway. She assigned her daughter to pick out 100 perfect and identical berries. You would think easy enough out of a tub of thousands? If I recall the recipe only required 50 so she was hedging 50%. Let’s just say the daughter got chewed out for her efforts. Impossible to please her.

She would always show up late but we would be blamed when we didn’t arrive on schedule.

She has a nice house.

It's no wonder she's hard to get along with. If I drove an Edsel I'd be grouchy too.
