Our plan for the weekend was to call the river for coyotes.
My son and two buddy's fished the same stretch the day before.

Even though they herd a lot of coyotes over the coarse of there fishing trip, we passed.

On Friday there were no parking spaces left in the boat ramp parking area when the got back, that meant there was a but load of boats on the water. We passed because we were afraid, on a weekend day there would be even more. Just can't call them to the river's edge with a gob of boats blasting up and down the river.

Plan "B".

With the forecast of low winds from the north and west, we picked our areas accordingly. We found some roads that we have never been on, kinda hard to believe, but true.

Had some very remote pieces of public lands. The first set was just as the sun was light enough to shoot and a walk, way farther than I normally do. We were looking out over a large bole several miles long and across. We had 100 feet of elevation over the bole with the wind in our face. Best of all scenario. We're hunting short grass with several drainage breaking away from us. Opened up with a female call, going into some pup in distress.

I'm looking SO hard my eyes feel like they will start to bleed.

I happened to look down to see a coyote already turn and escaping at 30 yards, WHAT!!!!

How the heck do they come into 30 yards and not be seen in short grass for miles? I tried to stop him with a loud dark fallowed by just yelling No go I took a running shot. As I

'm doing all this I here the boy doing the same as me. Not only did I let my coyote get in on me but did not even see the first one that was running by my boy now, not just one but TWO.

I think they just teleport in look around and teleport out just because the can. He did not get his and was wondering how it got up on him too. Five minutes into the day and we missed the only two coyotes we saw all day.

DANG!!!Ouch

2 plausible scenarios.

1)Evolution, they keep getting smarter and after many years of studying the prey they have discovered how to dig tunnels and now pop out of the ground like PD's and gophers.

2) Aliens! Just sayin.

I was going to throw in that perhaps paying too close attention to the glass and not enough on the immediate surroundings may be the case.....completely ridiculous though...….aliens!
...oh yeah! thats gonna hurt!
