"Let me say this about that"
Don't let "D" be your guide...He will take you out walk you all over the country side and you won't see ANY gophers.

A Group Effort:

hey wing....IBD here.....always a good effort at any mygawds..where the hell were you??????  the wine & dine parts have been GREAT...per usual..would yu expect any different?????.....shooting has been spectacular by all in attendence...hitting what are not in so large of abundance was great for the crew in general..not a great count of kia's but all got some and the BowArrow dude (CB's SIL) dun himself proud again.....weather in MT was a bit less than cooperative...pretty windy all week and not all can be attributed to Bear some was actually mother nature induced.

From BEAR;

'ote unting today 30 herrett. call in something wind was 60+ with no gusts (made AC and new hampshire mt Washingtonfeel mild.  Could have shot the "thing that came in". ; it looked like a large mexican hairless chihuahua.   Latter figured it out; just a poor 'ote that had it's hair blown off.

IBD came and was 'owing' a round of drinks; leaving tomorrow he'll owe 3 roounds of drink.

good time was had.  Looking forward to next year.  CB was an excellent host and guide.  D45-70 took us to one of his secret spots that we have seen posted in his pic.

Wing, 900F here;

The weather hasn't been good for hunting.  Winds have been enthusiastic, to say the least.  The gun show was also on, and a good thing that was for a coupla reasons.  BEAR found some small rifle primers at something approaching a reasonable price, for these days anyhow, and I found some wood.  I got a woodie!  No, wait, I bought a stock blank & think I got a pretty damn good deal on it too.

The gopher shooting Friday & Saturday were pretty much a bust, but Sunday was good.  Not great, not fantastic, but in comparison with the previous two days, it was a pretty nice day.  BEAR says he witnessed me making a first shot, new area, cold barrel, dead-center chest hit on a gopher at 170 yards.  But you know how he is.

So what's your excuse?

900F

Sounds like I missed a good time. Just staple your hat down and keep going.

Anything besides primers removed from the gun show?

I knew I was going to be kicking myself.

Wing, Wing, Wing;

You just gotta start really reading the replies: "and I found some wood.  I got a woodie!  No, wait, I bought a stock blank & think I got a pretty damn good deal on it too."

OK, that means I found and bought a stock blank.  Wood, you know, for to make a finished gunstock outta.  And since I bought it that means I didn't leave it there either, I took it home believe it or not.

Since I've got this CZ452 barreled action I want to turn into a Mannlicher stocked gun, and I figured that's hard to do without havin' some wood to do it with, I bought the wood.

Now I do believe I will have a celebratory Knob Creek to properly introduce the new wood into the household.  Though I don't think it's going to be here for very long.  It needs to get sent out to somebody who can rough cut the blank into the Mannlicher shape in order for the stock maker to get started.  That's the cheap part.  I may have to drink a good bit more Knob in order to convince myself to tell the better half what the bill's gonna be for the rest of it.

I went to a show this weekend but nothing near to the Great Falls
show. .22 bricks from $60-$100. No bargain 250-3000's either. Wish I
could have been there in MT.

Fella's;

Actual bargains were few & far between.  Another locksmith bought a new looking Smith & Wesson MP-15 for $750.00.  He's a recent returnee from Afghanistan & thoroughly familiar with the AR platform.  But, after he got it back to the shop & we all looked at it, there were a couple of points about it that didn't match up with the military guns.  Number one, it doesn't have an ejection port dust cover.  And it doesn't appear as though one can be retro-fitted either.  And number two, the M-4 looking buttstock isn't adjustable.  It has a lever, for looks, no spring under it, and the slider is pinned in place.  It's easy enough to fix, but I don't know what a new Magpul unit costs.

However, he's got the lower and a functional gun, so he's more-or-less happy.  But he's not real happy.
