Done got me a spring turkey permit and a turkey barrel for the BPS. Haven't hunted turkey since my college days in N. Ariz. I wonder if they've changed? No worries, I got me an in-law who's an expert with plenty of access to private property just busting with birds. Damn, now I need some turkey camo.

Mule, I find the deer camo works great. Birds seem to focus negatively on movement more than color/contrast. Biggest mistake is sky-lighting yourself. I call in Spring, because it is more productive and walk/stalk is illegal here. |

Mule, When you said Turkey Camo I just couldn't help myself. There used to be a camo pattern out there that was from somewhere in Texas. It had a bunch of small patterns of light and dark greens with, don't laugh now, little tiny blotches that looked yellow sand violets or white bleeding heart. In other words spring woodland colors. This stuff was great for turkey hunting. I had coveralls that I topped with a gray tree bark sweat shirt. With my back to tree and my legs in the spring grass I was darn near invisible. Too bad I can't find the pattern anymore. RD

I bought a set of camo made in Buffalo Wy I think. It is a great western sage pattern, can't find it anywhere in the east, it looks like a snow pattern but with a gray background..

Most any good camo pattern works in the spring for turkeys as long as it blends with your environment. In the early season there is no green up here so something with browns/black/grays works well and the greens come in slowly over the 6 part season so the last season it is nearly all greens thus move to something with greens/browns etc.....I find the turkeys don't seem to notice a doghouse type of popup blind at all....but they sure can spot any type of movement. A face mask and gloves are a must to cover the skin that "beams" like a light when viewed from the turkeys' position. what the turkey sees
what I see
the results

Good set IBD. I always put one dek low, setting flat on the ground. It looks like a receptive female, and I find the tom either goes for the jake or the flat sexy hen.
