been thinking about getting a suppressor.
would like to use one suppressor on 308/260/222 maybe 22 LR or 22 mag. Questions: will one unit work ok on all of these? is there a good brand? Is Silencer Central a good company to work with? All opinions welcomed. Edited by BEAR - 21 August 2022 at 12:50 |

Bear, I have two that I purchased from Elite Iron, a nearby manufacturer. They work great. I use one for my 204's and another that I use for my 6.5's. One has a 1/2 inch thread and the other a 5/8 thread. Since my purchases I see where Silencer Central came out with the Banish 30 model. Here's what is printed in the August 22 page 84 of Guns and Ammo ---"The Banish 30 ($979) is one slick unit. Usable on calibers ranging from .17 HMR to .33 Weatherby, it's all-titanium design is completely serviceable. The baffles are removable, which means the cleaning and reassembly are are done fast and easy. I think if I were to do it over I'd first look at the Banish 30.

Thanks Lizard, been looking at that one.
wondered about Sil. central. they have lots of negative posts, but most seem to be from folks that don't understand ATF regulations. think SC is in S. Dakaota.

Bear, A local gun dealer here sells Silenceco suppressors. Is that the same as Silencer Central? Here's what Elite Iron is now manufacturing and selling. It seems similar to the Banish 30, but costs much more. |

Seems the ASSET has 4 different configurations out of the box, the first stage can be used with the castle nut when a compact size is more favorable. For maximum suppression and flight control using both stages.
Don't know if that is good or needed? I will need to get barrels threaded. Nice that silencer Central does that ($99)

I have a Bannish 30 from Silencer Central. I really like that you can totally dissasemble it for cleaning. It has a total of 7 seperate baffles. you can use it with all 7 or take the front section off and use it with 5 baffles. Using it with 5 makes it about 2 or 3 inches shorter. If you get a Bannish 30 I do recomend getting their dissasembly tool. When they say to clean it every 100 rounds they aren't kidding. Usually the baffles basically fall out of the tube. ONE time, I shot about 250 rounds through it without cleaning it and had to use the tool to get it apart. It came apart really easy with the tool. Silencer Central made it really easy to go through the whole process. They sent me a packet with all the paper work and little tabs telling where I had to sign. It also had the needed finger print cards that I took to the sheriff's office to be finger printed. They also set up a trust at no charge so I can pass it to one of my kids when that time comes without a hassle. After that the wait started. Mine took about 13 months. I have heard that now if you e-file, the tax stamp is coming back in about 90 days. I really like having it. I have used it with rifles from .223 up to .308. It almost totally takes out the recoil. And It's nice to shoot prairie dogs with a buddy and not have hearing protection on. It's a lot easier to BS between shots. If you do end up getting one from Silencer Central, be sure to fill out their survey that they email to you a few months later. They will send you a free tee shirt. I must have got on some kind of weird email list. They kept sending me surveys and I kept filling them out. Last count I think I had 5 tee shirts.

Oh yeah, One other thing. The threads on the Bannish 30 are 5/8. They have adapters for every imagineable barrel thread size. Standard and metric. I have 4 rifles threaded with 1/2-28 threads. My granddaughters Ruger American has 5/8 threads. I'm sure that's about as big as it gets. I think 1/2-28 is pretty standard.

I didn't see anybody touch on this. But, yes you can use it on multiple guns. You buy the .308 unit and use it on the .260 it will work pretty good as there won't be a lot of gap around the bullet. When you go to your .222, it ain't gonna work as well. I have not heard of a formula, just the principle...that it will work pretty good, but not totally.
When you put one on a .22, it will be pretty quiet. The sonic boom will be an issue. |
