Times change. Brousing some stores and catalogs...looks like '06 and 270 are dead issues in new rifles. these once 'most popular' rifles are not available in most new rifles.
Seems the 223 and creedmore have push all others out of the race. Same with other standby cartridges, try to find a new 338 Win mag or a 7mm Rem mag rifle. just have less choices in the new rifle market.

That puts me into the used rifle market.
Oh well, I prefer blued steel and walnut to composit stocks anyway. I haven't seen too many of those either. I'm still keeping an eye out for a 99 Savage chambered in 250-3000 that's priced reasonably. HA HA. Good luck with that one.

Some other ones that I haven't seen in new rifles are the short magnums that were everywhere 15-20 years ago. same with ultra mags.
Nosler came out with a few new ones in the last couple years. The 30 Nosler, the 28 Nosler. I'm thinking they might fade away in the next few years. If nothing else because of the cost of ammo. My son in law bought a 28 Nosler. Ammo is around $100 a box if you can find it.

But that's not just the new ones...
338/378 WEATHERBY MAGNUM$ 179.99 – $ 189.99 I found some unprimed brass when I was out state that was $160 for 20!!! That's the D-I-L favorite. Then there is mine 8MM REMINGTON MAGNUM$ 119.99 – $ 149.99 If you can find it!!! There is no brass, we fire form and resize 375 h&h brass. Good thing we reload Edited by d4570 - 19 June 2022 at 15:18 |

No kidding. If it wasn't for reloading I'd have to find a different hobby.

I paid $250 for 100 Lapua 6.5 PRC brass. The other day my friends were at Scheels and saw some on the shelf without a price. They asked and it was $49.99! They called me and I asked them to double check, sure enough it was correct. They bought me 2 and they bought the other three. They put them on Facebook market place and they were sold in just a few hours for $600. Still $150 less than the going rate. Crazy prices out there.

I prefer cartridges that I can find brass laying on the ground at the range.
The last year or so I've only been able to find .223/5.56 and 9mm. Years ago you could find the good stuff.
