when my f-250 caught fire and burned up in my driveway, i was impressed w/ ford.

this video, assuming this behavior is corporate wide, might explain some of detroit's problems.

i don't know if my next truck will be american or not, but it most assuredly will not be ford. we will know in about 6-9 months, because that is when my next vehicle purchase will be. i also want to let some of the fall out from detroit settle, and see if gm and chrysler get bought by ford, or merge, or whatever...

Hunting is not a matter of life or death; it is much more important than that.

I'm a ford man.  GM has way more quality issues, but they come from the design table.  Bad human resources is a problem with America, not just ford.  Their cars are otherwise good products.

Ford Used to make good vehicles not anymore I would not take one on a bet give me a GMC anyday. In the past my ford expiriences have been 50/50 not good odds GMC vehicles have lasted me much longer. Not real big on Chrysler either.

Don't get me started on my current GM product.  Suffice to say that it has 108,000 miles and goes into the shop every 2 months for something or other.  This has been the case since it had 50,000 miles.  I spend $400 to $2,000 every time it goes in.  It eats brakes, has had cooling system leaks, faulty power steering & AC units.  The air foil/brake light unit broke off the hatch when it iced up.  You name it, I've either replaced or fixed it.  Windows all leak air when closed.  Sounds like I'm in a small airplane when on the highway.  You don't dare open the rear windows on the highway, you could lose your hearing from the pounding.  Same thing with my past GM products.  Fords ain't much better, but it doesn't seem to be design related like GM, just poor quality control.

Hell, we must be damn bored to be degenerating into the GM vs. Ford debate.  At least no one has brought up 30-06 vs. 270 Win for elk (knock on wood).

i am NOT a ford person (i prefer chev followed by dodge), but one thing i can say for ford is that they were the one company that didn't NEED a bail-out. they said they could get by if necessary.

i think this has less to do with quality and more to do with all the lay-offs they made about 4 years ago. maybe other factors, who knows.

Wow was that shocking.

Seems were really need to get the federal gov't in on this.  We need federal laws to help.  I'd like to get Puglsi to some pass some laws to stop this social cricise.  Like :

1) No bars within 400 yards of a plant.

2) Breathalyzer test at every plant gate.

3) electronic chips buried inside every mill workers body to verify his where abouts during day-time and during the midnight shift.

4)  outlaw all labor unions as they make it impossible to fire a union worker for drunkenness.

WE need to get this stuff thru fast.  I'm e-mailing Obama now.

Bear,

I realize that all your points were tongue in cheek, but I'll have to say the last one ain't all that frivolous.  I drove to the U.P. for vacation in October.  I was amazed to see UAW signs hanging on all the factories right below the GM and other company logos.  I guess they consider themselves to be part owners.  Damn commies.

Hey Mule,

Do you think a 30-06 or a .270 is better for elk?
