Fella's; Ordered a new scope tonight. I sold the Leupold 3.5-10X 50mm off the Tikka .338 to Garou because his new gun is stainless & so was the scope. The Tikka though is wood/blue & it looked funny. However, it was a Leupold & worked pretty damn good. So, thought I was gonna order another Leupold but with a 40mm objective to make mounting easier. Then, then, I got my Zeiss 8X mono to replace the cheap bino's & had to go & look at Zeiss scopes 'cause the mono was so very clear. There it was, Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10X 44mm in matte with mil-dots! And at a price that wasn't totally out of this world either. Admittedly more than the Loopy, but not if I sent the Loopy in to get a mil-dot reticle put in it. And the price of a VX mil-dot from the factory? Hoo-hah!! Now that there's real money folks. Add the word 'tactical' & about double the price! I couldn't find the tube dimensions on the Zeiss site though, so I'm a little worried about mounting it on the longer Tikka magnum action. But, somebody, somewhere in Europe probably, does it I'm sure. And if they gonna be ridiculous about the price, I'd rather pay Kingpin anyway. 900F |

the Conquest scope is a good deal. I think a 3X9 Conquest may be in my future, I can/t see a reason to spend the extra hundred or so bucks to go to the 3.5X10 though, at least thats the price difference at one place I know of. I have a coupe of rifles that need scopes. One is a .338, It will likly get the 3.5X10 variX3 that sits on one of my .243s. But I think its a littl more scope than I want on that one, Another 2.5X8 wold be my choice if its long enough...tj3006 |

TJ; I've worked some with this Zeiss now. If you don't want the mil-dots on the 3.5-10X Conquest, don't get them, but I can without hesitation recommend the Zeiss. I specifically wanted the mil-dots & had to go to the 3.5-10X to get them & am damn glad I did. This scope is incredibly clear, and that's in comparison to the Leupold Vari-X III it replaced. 900F |
