That is a great buck, however, the bigger question is Where was it filmed? If it is a free range buck then I will also say WOW... More than likley it is a buck inside a private reserve high fenced area. Several times in the video you can see a wire at the top of the frame and you can also see the planted field the buck is in. My guess is that it is a "tame" buck that has been feed and raised to be a big buck.

After visiting those guys website, it looks like they hunt free-range bucks, and take some monsters. Prices are too cheap to be high-fence.

I lived in Buffalo county for a couple of years in the mid 1980s and still travel and work there a half dozen times a year. Buffalo county has a reputation for the largest bucks in Wisconsin. Deep fertile valleys are ringed with very steep and remote terrain for Wisconsin. The Waumandee Valley is rumored to have black topsoil over ten feet deep. These valleys grow tremendous corn crops that sustain deer populations through the winter. Ridgetops are mainly dairy farmed which means lots of alfalfa and some clover growth. I think the biggest environmental influence is the large amount of limestone present on the ridges leads to high levels of calcium and other minerals in the alfalfa. But there are other factors. Starting way back in the 80s Quality Deer Management became almost a religion with locals. The other parts that played into the management were that the first two days of season were shotgun only followed by 7 days of rifle season. Now it's rifle all 9 days. Farms tend to be of average size which means lots of landowners, posted lands and controlled hunting including QDM practices. Local sporting publications and national magazines have all predicted that Buffalo county could produce a world record buck. It easily rivals NW Illinois and NE Iowa in that possibility. I'm not sure if this is, or is not, a free ranging buck but the possibility is very real. RD
