Let's see. The honeymooners was a 10 minute segment on the Jackie Gleason Show starting in 1953. It became it's own show and was 30 minutes in 1955 through 1955. If you saw it when you were 10, then you should have been in SS for 3 years. D go put int a back claim and get your 3 years of SS benefits....then you can buy the new ATV! |

One of these days Alice...one of these days.
Always love when Norton was to sign some document and would give a long "wind up" and then STOP pause, and do it again. LMAO |

Their was an episode where they went roller skating. I didn't see it live, but I still laugh when I think about it. Jackie Gleason was always funny as heck on that show. Wing master |

Lots of memories. It was originally done live. I remember the episode where the real Gleason slipped on water (water and dry ice was being used on the set to simulate smoke) and slid into the open bladed fan. Sever cut to his leg, almost killed him, 4 week off air. But the over weigh clown came back strong as every. In the 40s he was a heavy/villain often playing a hood or gangster killer int BW b rate movies. Not to be confused with James Gleason...one of my favorites. |

Fella's; I remember some of the live shows, seen as a young'un. I can clearly remember really getting pissed that they never showed anything but the one room. Which brings me to the point of the comment; that was absolutely world-class comedy that has clearly withstood the test of time, and done without a million dollar set changed every week. Would that modern TV take note. Hell, would that today's imitation of government take note. 900F |

And notice the lack of sex dialog. Just lower income working people, and natural parody. By today's standard it is violence toward women and sexist. Interesting, I remember an episode which contrary to being racist, showed Ralph as saying, a minority was an OK guy because he was a great bus driver. Got to love a guy who works in a sewer his whole life and still has a positive attitude! Both women roles were shown as 'dumpy' house frau types (never saw my aunt wearing anything buy an Alice Cramden house dress). But in reality, both actresses were beautiful women and I've seen them in other roles where they would knock your socks off. Good TV |

YUP! My Granma dressed the same too ( Edith Bunker style ). She put her hair up in curlers the night before she went to the grocery store. ALL the "NEW" block busters are re=makes of old shows. Never anything "New"
PS I remember the first color TV on the block it belonged to a doctors family, and had a round tube, a Magnavox consul with a record player built in ( WOW). We all went there on Saturday morning to see the cartoons in "living color" Edited by d4570 |

Until 1986 my big living roon TV was a black and white TV set in a beige/charcoal plastic hoousing . In 1982 we had a baby sitter for the kids one night when we went out. Upon getting home, the sitter said "Mr. Bear I couldn't get the color on your TV set". thought for a minute and I said it is black and white. She said "I know it is black and white but I couldn't get the color to come on". then I realized this kid never saw or even heard of a black and White tv. I told here it was really a radio with no color...and asked her to talk to her mom. Years later after we had moved away from that neighborhood, that little girl saw me in a store and came over an threw her arms around me (a perfect 10). I didn't recognise her until she told me who she was. Time flies!! Boy, I could then for the first time understands how some guys could get into trouble fooling around with the babysitters!!! |
