Since the poll was for pistols, I took it to mean "semi-autos". For me, it would be the Colt 1911 type pistol, hands down.

That said, however, I am fond of S&W revolvers, too.

Regards, Marcus.

Is a single shot handgun considered a pistol? Would the definition of a pistol be, any handgun that only has one chamber?

NH

I voted for other cause you left out my personal favorite, Sig Sauer in a pistol, S&W in a revolver. The way that I understand it a handgun with a revolving cylinder is a revolver, all others are pistols. I've had many over the years, down to just a few now.

NH,

Ya forgot Taurus, and CZ, en Isreali arms eagle & baby eagle.

I've owned, Ruger Redhawk, and a GP100, S&W Model 29, H&R 9 shot,  a couple of jennings p shooters, a 32 police model smith, a Taurus, and a baby eagle, which is a knock off of the CZ75 (russian paratrooper pistol).

BTW Pistol's are automatics, Revolvers revolve...

And the early Colt handguns were known as a "Revolving Pistols". Said so right on the box label. Pistol
originaly refered to a weapon that was fired from the hand, or one handed.
Current usage divides between self-loaders and revolvers.

Although their politics were wobbly for a while, a Smith revolver is the handgun I use and depend upon the most.

The most FUN handguns to shoot though IMHO are any of the .45 acp Colt 1911's or the various knock-offs of the same.
