thanks.  Think I'll try local so I can check expiration date.  I was thinking gauze, easy to apply and little migration.  Like the tea bag also.  something with a bout a foot of untreatd gauzs on either side of the medicated area, sort of like a battle dressing.

That's what the modern battle dressing is, 25g quickclot sponge with 3yds gauze attached (3"wide).  It also comes in 50gr(4") and 100gr(5") sizes, from what I could find out, link I gave has good reputation and they have all the goodies you could want, well most anyway.

I all ready carry roll of gauze in first aid kit, so will just add sponges to kit.  I'm on the rat pills (coumadin) so even a small cut takes forever to stop, I've used sponges (teabags) before and they do the job.  It's a lot better than the tampon, maxipad dressings.

I've read that the Tampon/Maxipad thing might be the worst thing you could do. These are designed to absorb liquids and will keep pulling the blood away from the wound not allowing it time to clot. Haven't tested it personally so I can't say yea or nay but the arguement makes sense to me.  RD
