Hey guys, i was just wondering if any of you have any experience with the Ruger GP 100. I have a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 LC 4 5/8" and it really has a problem with it. THe ammo is also expensive, and the only stuff i can get locally is 255 grain Winchester lead round nose cowboy ammo, which really isnt what i want. I also have almost all the stuff necessary for reloading .357, all i need are some bullets. So what do you guys think? I am also able to shoot .38 SPL, which is much cheaper than .45 LC.

NH, get the reloading stuff you need for the .45LC. The GP-100 is a great revolver. Get one.

I dont know if i can push my dad enough to allow me to have two handguns! It is hard enough to get him to consider getting me the handgun in the first place! But two? I dont know if i can do it. If i do somehow manage, then how will i get him to let me get the Mosin Nagant? I guess i will just have to drop that for now. Then comes the muzzleloader. I will have to push him really hard if i want anything other than a Ruger. I can hold a Ruger, but I cant hold a lyman deerstalker before i buy one. That is a big issue for me. What about the paintball gun that i want to get? Hmmmm. This is going to be a toughy. I will just work on my mom for the paintball gun .

Paintball???? You NEED a paintball gun? Get the GP and forget about painting the cats and dogs in the neighborhood. OR, get a Binks spray gun and learn to paint cars. There's NO percentage in paintball unless you want to be a gabbage patch commando. The GP, although I don't have one, is a good gun. Those who own one, love them. Also, get some .45 LC reloading gear like the others said. NO MORE PAINTBALL!!!!!

PAINTBALL KICKS A*S!!! You can be in complete war, and no one gets hurt! It is soo much fun. Running around through the woods with paintballs splatting on the trees all around you.

NH - While I have shot the GP-100, I have never owned one. I thought it was a nice gun to shoot. And although I have owned Ruger Blackhawks in the past [both in stainless and blued] they were .357's. I currently don't own any Ruger handguns. I don't care for their centerfire semi-auto pistols. I would like to get a Model 45/22 pistol in .22 lr, though...

I have mostly been a S&W revolver man, myself. I happen to like the versatility of a .357 revolver. I currently have a S&W Model 19 .357 with a 4" barrel. Great all round gun and I like the option of shooting .38 Specials in it which you can get almost anywhere and also load very inexpensively. I also have some "barn burner" .357 handloads that also work well in a Win '94 Trapper carbine in .357 that I also have... a great combo the S&W Model 19 and the Win '94 Trapper...

'Course, it might be just as well to get the loading gear you need to roll your own for the Blackhawk .45 LC. You can make a lot of handloads for the price of a new GP-100.

Regards, Marcus.

Then it's not a complete war. In a complete war, there are F-117's, Watrhogs, F-14's, F-15's, M-1 Tanks, Bradley fighting vehicles, divisions of Cavalry, Infantry, Artillery, and real rifles, along with Carl Gustav's, AT-4's, real Shipers, mini guns, AG-130 gunships, Helo's and total destruction. Get the GP-100 and prepare for when you join the Army................Kingpin

NH;

A more constructive line might be this:

Dear Ammo Annie;

My Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt has the following problem(s).  Please suggest what to do.

Dear NH;

Marry Kingpins daughter.

Now, what i could do, is use the GP100 as a carry gun, and put a red dot sight on the blackhawk after i send it back to get the throat checked.

LOL I don't have a daughter, but if you insist on paint balls, I'll tell you what I'll do. I will build a compressed air cannon with blow down valves that will act as artillery pieces. It will be able to launch a gallon can of Sherwin Williams best. That ought to hold the "barbarians" if it launches them two hundred yards minimum, and you will be able to depress the muzzle for point fire too..........Shit, now I'M getting into it. LOL well Sci Fi is fun too I guess.................Kingpin

NH--By the way, what's wrong with your 45LC? Single action Rugers are pretty easy to fix, most of the time. Iv'e done action work on a bunch of the newer one's. Worst single action triggers I have ever seen. But, that said, Ruger 4 5/8 in. 45Colt is one fine gun. Don't get rid of it!!!! If you absolutely have to, give somebody on this board first crack at it. Keep us posted on how you fare out on it.-------------Bronco

It cant shoot for crap. It shoots about 2 foot groups at 10 feet. I think i may want either a Ruger Redhawk or a GP100. The Redhawk would be chambered for .44 Mag. I have all of the reloading stuff because i inherited it. I also have Winchester 296 powder and Hodgton H110, which are both really good powder for the .44 Mag.
