Since my old one had 257K miles on it, my wife wanted something newer that was more reliable, as she goes off picture taking a lot in the back country by herself.

After a lot of searching I found a 2004 with only 2400 miles on it. She didn't like the 2005 because they increased the body size about 8 inches all around, and the earlier models were smaller.

After getting it home , I remarked that the sprayed on bed liner would be easier to get blood off when I went antelope hunting. That went over about as good as the comercial you see on TV where the wife comes in and ask the husband if a certain dress made her look fat and he is busy reading, so just grunts "Sure"

Guess I will be using the big Dodge this year.

Which Toyota is it and what kind of milage do they get? Ten miles to the gallon is getting old in the Ford and I need a truck for is hunting and hauling my four wheeler so I don't need a huge payload.

Rob1 It's a 2004 Toyota Tacoma, TRD package ( has the off road tires and suspension) V-6, 5 speed, about 19-20mpg. The new 2005 are bigger and have a bigger V-6 and a 6 speed with a hair better milage.

Too bad your'e not closer. This 89 of mine would make a dandy hunting vehicle. It has high mileage, but has a good 4 cyl engine, power train and body, basically in good shape, 22 mpg, I'm only asking $2600 for it.

My toyota 4x4 is great. Im on my 3rd engine. I just dont want to part with it. Small, compact and great on gas for hunting, fishing etc. Mines an 86 with ext cab and 22re 4 cylinder engine. I put a 3 inch body lift on it The only drawback to them is that import parts are expensive. All im missing is a winch.

I've got a winch on my T100, and she's up to 143k now being a 1996.

the thing just won't quit when I take care of it, I'd like a newer one but the truth is this one works fine.

That's a good deal saddlesore, I bet it'll sell quick. Soon as I get some much needed home improvements done I think I'll be looking for a small or mid size truck. Probably keep the Ford for larger chores since I just put a motor in it. That 302 is the biggest piece of crap ever, I'd rather have their old straight six.

Rob1. I bought an 85 Ford dually, new, 460 engine 4:10 gears. It got 3mpg pulling a big trailer, 8mpg on it's best day, empty. Almost drove me poor with repairs. The end was when I had to get it towed of the top of Loveland Pass , inside the tunnel, when the clutch hydraulic line blew. That thing couldn't pull a sick whore off a piss pot. Most of the timeit vapor locked half way up the mountain.

If it wasn't for the wife going off by herslef on her trips, I would have just kept running this old one.

I've got a Ford F150, that just hit 84,000 miles this week, and it's a good vehicle.  After buying a Toyota Camry last year though, I think my next truck will be a 4 door Tundra.  The only draw back, is they have one of the smallest and least horse powered engines of any full size on the market.  We have a friend in AR that is a Toyota mechanic, and he tells me to get the new Tacoma, over the Tundra, as it's a V-6 with only 10 less horses than the Tundra.

My T100 hit 145k this year, I'll probably wait one or two more years and get a new Tacoma... Since the 2005 is now bigger, it's size is now right between the old Taco, and the Tundra.

Darn things run forever if you take care of them.

My wife drives a 2004 Runner and loves the thing. I can't complain mine is a 94' 4x Runner pushing 172k and I'd hop in it and go anywhere even with the bad gas milage,23 to 24 mpg.  And the rust just adds class, besides if it gets muddy enough ya can't it anyway.

Thats the thing with Toyotas, the rust. It never seems to be on the cab but always on the box and rusts right along the seams. Datsuns seem to have the same problem along with other imports. I did my own body work on mine. It was so bad that if you were to power wash it you could probably blow holes in it. Now the rust is starting to come through again but thats ok as its only for mountain fun. I like the truck so much that im on my 3rd engine and have well over 200 k on it. Like i said before though in another post above is that import parts are more expensive so i use an auto salvage alot. Im thinking about spraying mine from grey and making it camouflage but that might be over doing it or so the girlfriend thinks.
