K-frames are nice revolvers.  I have them in 6 inch and 4 inch barrels, but no heavy weights barrels like the Model 13.  In 32, 38, 357 the standard barrels are heavy enough for me.

I have an early contender frame with custom walnut grips, with thumb rest.  I have 30 Herret, 357, 375 and 44 mag barrels.  All barrels are 10 inches except the 375 which is 10 inch with a 1 1/2" brake. 

 The Herret was my first barrel and I had it Mag-n-Ported.  The 30 Herret is a wildcat and it takes a good bit of work to make the cases, I have 200 made now.  It was my deer barrel when I got it, but today I use it for varmit.  My best shot was a double on ground hogs.  Lined up on one at 80 and one at 110.  Head shot the first and body got the second one.  It is a fine all around caliber, and good deer shell with the 130 gr single shot pistol bullets.  They expand very nice at the velocity of a hand gun. I would not recommend the mag-n-porting.

The 357 bbl. was purchase new but at a cost of only 125, I bought it with the thought of rechambering it for the 357 Herret.  But I got the 375 and never did that.  I have shot the 357 barrel with open sights and target reload 38s.  It is match grade and the tightest shooting CF handgun I have ever shot.  i have used it in heavy laurel to hunt deer and it is more than adequate for whitetail.  the closed breech makes the 357 a very potent gun.  The hot reloads for the 357 in the contender shoould NEVER be used in a revolver.

The 375 is only GREAT.  It is my primary big game pistol.  I've gotten lots of deer and boar with it.  It is the perfect boar handgun.  It is very accurate, especially wiht the 270 gr bullets (sub MOA at 100 yds with 5 shots).  But the flat nose bullets made for the 375 winchest work better on game.  after about 6 whitetails with the 270 grain, none opened at all and all were heart shots, average range 130 yds.  I only use the 270 gr on boar as it behaves as a solid, and will shot clean thru a boar from any angle, North-South or East-West.

The 44 mag is a 10 inch barrel.  I got it 'cause everyone needs a 44.  it would be a good choice for a non-reloader as a big game gun.

The T/C contender is a gun-freaks heaven, lots of barrels and you can sell them easy (e-bay).  but for most of the calibers you really need to handload to get the most out of them.
