Does anyone shoot their bow in their basement? I could have a shooting lane 40 feet long to an unfinished wall in my basement. Will one of the BIG BLOCK targets be enough back stop at 40 feet? I am just learning to shoot my bow. What would happen if I slammed a target tipped carbon arrow into a concrete wall from 40 feet? Thanks! |

I shoot 10 yards in my basement, a block is fine. Most carbons will be
junk if they hit the wall, some won't. I'd say if you do hit the wall
toss the arrow to be safe. It can be a lot of fun and good practice, do
it!

Stupid people are like a slinky, they don't serve much purpose in the world but they sure are fun to watch tumble down the stairs! |

If you are shooting in your basement I would suggest that you invest in some axcelcier bales to put along the walls if you hit a concretewall with a carbon arrow it would explode if your bow has any poundage. a wood arrow on the otherhand would chip the wall.

I use to do this. Now I shoot in the back yard. Get a 8x8 piece of chip board 1/2 inch. It is the 'final backstop' and will kill the energy so you don't get a bound back splinter nor sprackle the block. Avoid the plastic block targets. You are shooting close range and too many melt at high velocity hits. the pillow type target with loose filling is best for close range and lots of shots. Some one said get two for safety, and that is a good idea. Indoor shooting combined with some arm exercise really keeps your shooting in great shape. BEAR |
