I bought a new scope for my custom Roberts. I prety much new what I wanted, I bought a VX2 3X9. I bought cause to me, thats the classic scope on a classic rifle (03 springfield) in a classic round. Of course it seems an apropriate scope too. I took the rifle out to the woods to shoot right after mounting. And I am really happy with it. Ya know I have about 7 or 8 other leupolds. mostly low power but 1 is a vari X 3, 3.5X10. The new one is the only 3X9 in the bunch. Its better than I anticipated. And in my opinion this scope is as solid as a rock, opticly very good , and is as I have been saying since I bought my 1st leupold 25 years ago. The scope to judge all others by. I will be needing 2 more scopes as 2 other projects are completed. My 06 was going to get another 2X7 VX2 and likly still will , cause its a little smaller and lighter and thats what I want in that rifle. My improved roberts I was leaning to a new nikkon monarch 2.5X10. But now I don't know. The nikkon might be a little clearer opticly , I am not sure. But I will say with confidence. When in doubt , about a scope go with a leupold. and a 3X9 is aprporiate for most anything. it would be a little silly on my 45/70 but it would just fine on any other rifle I own, and if I missed game, it would not beacuse of the scope. ...tj3006
