Blaine,
You were right on this one, MAN!
The Rendovous was more of a trapper's event then a smoke pole deal. North American Fur Association (NAFA) was there amoungst a bunch of other dealers, supply houses, hunters & outfitters.
Anywho, the dealers here were gonna screw me from what I saw. The Kansas fur harvesters Association pulled this thing together, and they sponsor the NAFA auctions where trappers bring in their take and it gets bid off.
Looking at what the dealer was gonna pay $10 to 12, and the auction price of average yotes $22 sure sounds like the old days when the trappers got screwed out of their money. Same thing fer Cat's, NAFA guy's tolt me I need to be able to prep, and grade my pelts then put the like grades in bundles and put them up fer acution when they come to town. Dealers been tryin to run off the auction, but since we had 15 thousand people show up at the rendevous that will be unlikely.
So now that $50 bucks a cat is around 100 to 135 as long as I take care of the hides, and the coyotes doubled too. I'll give her a try fer a while jest to get the experience again.
Ed, found yer tape on a fur site - if I don't hear back from ya in a while, I'll pick it up there. Rather see you get more of the cash then they do. Thanks fer keepin my straight - hope ya don't begrudge me to much fer being a doubting Thomas, but my experience tells me I was more apt to get screwed then not - now thet I know how to do it right I just might give her a try.
