Any thoughts on the new .327 Federal Magnum? So far Ruger looks like the only gun supplier with the SP101 Revolver. Might make a good lever rifle cartridge. Pressures run very high. Energies are higher than .38 Special. RD

Rockie; I could get interested, but can't percieve of a need. What with a major project in the works, I can't justify it money wise either. Give it a coupla years, if it's still around, maybe so. It could be a helluva collector investment though. Go try to buy a pristine .357 Maximum if you don't believe me. 900F |

When the .32 H&R Mag came out I was all excited and very few companies jumped on it so it basically died. I bought a 5 shot H&R heavy barrel pistol but it couldn't compete with a .38 spcl. Then came the hunt for brass. While I could find all sorts of .32 S&W longs and shorts the H&R stuff was hard to come by. Most of my reloading was for the long case not the mag. With this in mind I don't see anything different about the .327. Same intitial hype, lack of chambered guns, lack of brass. Dead in 3 years is my guess. DD |

Advertised comparisons to the .357Mag seem unrealistic for the round. 1400 fps with a quality 100 gr. bullet isn't anything to sneeze at, from a self defense standpoint. But it isn't a .357Mag. Close, I suppose. 6-shot (.327) as opposed to 5-shot (.357) in a compact, carrying revolver is interesting. Should be very easy to shoot accurately. Wouldn't suprise me at all if it caught on. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that to happen, but it wouldn't suprise me. Also wouldn't suprise if one somehow found its way into my safe at somepoint down the line. The .32H&R has tempted at various times over the years. Hard to find cartridges never worried me much. Even if it does tg defunct, I can't believe it'd be any harder to find reloading brass for then the 9mmWinMag. Will keep an eye on this one. klallen
