guys -

i have a computer with a onboard video card (a SiS s730, i think, not that great) a buddy of mine gave me a much better Nvidia video card. no problem, popped it into the slot. disabled the old one (was unable to actually uninstall it because every time i restarted puter it would reinstall and try to run both) installed software for new card and let er rip.

the problem is that now my screen is flickering very badly, and i am not sure what the problem is. i thought the old vid driver might be interfering with the new one (since it was only disabled and not actually removed), but i don't know. it must be related to accelleration, because when i shut the acceleration all the way off, it seems to work just fine, except i can't start games tht use acceleration.

my buddy that i got the card from said he had the same problem when he got the card, but can't remember what the fix was. all he remembered was that it was somewhere in the settings. any ideas?

my OS is win xp home and i am running 256MB ram plus 128MB ram with 16 shared.

Tas,

Try adjusting the refresh rate to the highest possible setting.

Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said ... and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. KJV

I'd look to see if there's an updated BIOS for your system board.  If the onboard video is disable at the BIOS level, it shouldn't be detected.

Unlikely the drivers are stepping on each other...
