Gunsmith friend is selling a Colt Army Special in 41 Colt. About 75% finish outside, and the bore and insides are nice and clean. $289, might slap some money down. Might be worth it just to play with a heeled bullet cartridge.

Sounds interesting... can you still get the ammo for it? Also, I heard they were 'delicate' compared to the SAA and hard on springs & such... Is that true?

The .41, long or short is a handloading only proposition now. Been ages since thereas any factory loads...maybe mid sixties or so? There are molds out there, and converted brass, and die sets.

As for delicate, the Army Specials were the same lockwork, although scaled down somewhat, as the Colt New Service. I believe you are thinking of the 1878 Colt DA. Never messed with one, but they did have a reputation for going out of time.
