Ranch dog did a similar poll a while back, thought I'd revive it and
see if I can get more than 6 votes this time. I know archery seems to
be a dieing sport with everyone wanting to push long shots these days,
but there has to be more than 6 bow hunters here

	I bout the pse whitetail extream 2 years back at basspro love it shoots good and quite even with no silencers o it yet.

	bk: i have a browning, matt has a hoyt , nathan has a matthews and timmy shoots a darton. they all started out with a browning. good thing about having 3 boys. but all 3 of the boys also shoot recurves.. they shoot almost as good with the recurves as the do with the compounds. the only advantage they see now with the trainingwheels is farther distance. i dont stand a chance

	Hey BK Ya know how bad it hurts to make me do that . About two years before me surgery the Doc told me I would not be able to shoot my bow again,I was back in a tree with my MacPherson by deer season. I'll be back to marking your poll in the compound slot soon.(I Hope) Before I was a MacPherson nut I shot Martins. If I was to get a bow today that was not a MacPherson I'd be sitting in a tree with a Reflex. NO MATHEWS ALLOWED

	Isn't reflex made under Hoyt? I haven't seen anything in writing, but come on, look at the riser, its a tad obvious. Any reason against Mathews or just a personal choice? I'm guessing there is a pretty strict reason considering the boldness of the statement.

	I use them all. I'd hunted with a recurve for years, until I had a serious disagreement with a horse. Couldn't pull any kind of bow for nearly two years, then got a PSE compound to start working the pain out. Started shooting at about 40 pounds in nasty pain. Within a year, I had the wheels changed twice, and was shooting 137 lbs in competition when my bow was weighed at Big Sky Archery during league. I shot like crap after I found out how much I was pulling. Ignorance is bliss. I had no idea what I'd been shooting, but Dan Moore, the shop owner, noticed the limbs were about pegged out, and that I was getting pretty zippy speed. I dropped down to 90, and stuck with that until all the pain was gone from my shoulder. I then went back to a recurve, and built several longbows, and hunted with them. I killed deer, elk, and grouse with one of my home built bows. This past month, I have been shooting a sinew backed osage orange bow that I made, and am considering trying for a deer with it this season. I'm keeping it in the kill zone at the ranges I see, or would shoot at, a deer. It weighs 47 lbs, so has plenty of power for a whitetail. I've got a dandy bull all tied up, and am just waiting for season!

	How right you are BK they come from the same stock. Just like Person bought out MacPherson and now they are the same sort of. The Reflex is a very forgiving bow I think and fits me like a glove. As far as Mathews goes I hate their advertising. How many 10 page adds have you seen from them,making you think man if I just had one of those I to could be great. LOL I like the smaller companys that still make a good product and take pride in it. Kind of like my Lupy vs Burris feelings.

	Tikka, I did a little research on Reflex last night. As far as I can tell the main reason for the seperate company is so that Hoyt can keep designing new stuff and new technologies every year, but rather than keep way to many models they take the older models and keep them current in the reflex line, keeping only the latest and greatest in the current Hoyt line up. Sou you could also just do like I did and find a leftover from the year before and pay even less then a new reflex And you Al........no comment.............

	Archery on this board is dead. It is more an Eastern or Southern thing. Locally it is the hotest deer hunting going, lots of young participants. Maybe most of the folks here are in the plains states without a tree to hang a stand upon????? For health reasons I use a crossbow. But in my good health days I used a lowbow, semi recurve, recurve, compound, and a X-box.. Killed deer with all of them. My preference is to use a recurve, with a peep sight. High speed, compact, light weight, and easy handling in a ts. BEAR

	I use all the above The primitive stuff I use for doe or cull hunting The compound I use is a PSE Thunderflight that I'm still putting together. The previous compoung I had was a cheap old Bear Black Bear and was responsible for taking about a dozen deer, a boar and an eastern wild turkey. You don't have to have $1,000 in a bow to be able to kill critters consistently.

	I have this old compound that I don't even know who makes it. It says "Indian Series- Warhawk" on it does anybody know who makes it? I shot a doe with it a few years ago. Last year I was out practicing with it just before the season and the string broke, scared the hell out of me. I thought it took my ear off it slapped me on the side of the face so hard. I hate to go out and buy a Mathews since I don't shoot bows too often. I don't think my old one is worth fixing and it must be close to 15 years old. DD

	There are a lot of pretty good bows out there that you can get into pretty cheap, like around 200-300 set up and still have a pretty nice setup. It won't be an ultrafast ultraquiet state of the art bow, but it will work just fine if you want it to. I like the comment on not needing $1000 to get a good bow, kind of goes the same for rifles, yet most guys are more willing to pay $1000 for a rifle than $500 for a bow. I unfortunatly played with some new bows a few months ago and realized just how good the pricey bows are, until then I though my Golden Eagle was cream of the crop. Keep your eyes open and you can find great bows at great prices every now and then, especially if you pick up last years stock.

	I shot a compound for many years, recently moved to a crossbow due to shoulder injury. I gotta disagree with Bear, archery ain't dead out here on the plains, it's alive and kickin. We just don't have the numbers that they do out east. Heck ND has a total population of only 638,000, don't recall offhand how many bowhunters we have. huntin1
