I'll be tent camping in Pennsylvania mountains for next 4 days.  Nice remote location in state Forest lands.

PA has an "olde Fart" season 65+  (I can squeak into that class  LOL).  so, I got a WT doe license.  Reality is I will shoot nothing; as I'm by myself and can't drag a deer more than 50 yards (on level or slightly sloping downhill).

But choice of rifle is still important to me...   300 RUM  and 30 Herret  LOL

He's back.

didn't shoot anything.

tented alone in mountains, very beautiful fall leaves and  a few small waterfalls.   weather was very december...night 34 oF  and days at 75 oF.  rained two nights.  tent worked well, canvas had no leaks.

Only had one wake-up scream as something was killing a fawn (no barks or howls, maybe a Fisher or bear.

Saw 3 cow elk, one black bear, one eagle, two large bull elk (about 100 yards from my tent).   Nine whitetails, one 4 point buck (illegal); he just stood there looking at e from 15 yards.   Fished one mid-afternoon, flies just s few perch.

A great time, already looking forward to next year mountain deerhunt/camp out.

Lost 4 pounds, dry food must be less calories!

Sounds like another great trip Bear.

Maybe I'm getting old but getting out is the most important thing to me. It's a bonus if I kill something.
I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.

Yep, wing and the tent camping adds a lot.

Next year I'll take a canoe with me to mountains.
