This one's kinda neat looking.  I first heard of Grand Power from a Youtube content creator who's channel is called GBGuns. He's got several videos up reviewing a number of things.  Grand Power seems to be a personal favorite so I've seen a lot that this Slovakian manufacturer offers.  And from the moment I saw this X-Calibur, I knew I needed one.  Its polymer framed,  with several lightening cuts in the slide front giving it kind of a futuristic look.  The rear of the slide has very aggressive serrations, insuring easy traction even with sweaty fingers.   Slide release, safety and mag release are all ambi.  It has a fully adjustable rear sight and red fiber optic front.  It sports a 5", 9-fluted heavy barrel with a unique, rotating action that claims to mitigate recoil better but in 9mm, I gotta be honest, I can't tell a difference ... the 9mm's so light recoiling anyway.

It is a pleasure to shoot, though.  And so far, it likes my standard 9mm handload ... 5.1 grs CFE Pistol, CCI500's and Berry's 124 gr. HHP moving along at 1126 fps.  Got mine of Gunbroker in 2021 for under 750$ but haven't seen one on there for a while now.?.?.?  Not sure why.

In my limited experience, I'm impressed with Grand Power.  I have a couple other models in my sights right now but haven't made the move yet.  In time.  If you're in the market to add a semiauto to the safe, might be a manufacturer worth looking into for ya.  They have several options.    k

Snag one and let me know what ya think.

They offer their long slide versions of a .45acp (P45L) and 10mm (P40L) that I've been looking at.  They're kinda hard to come by. That rotating barrel is really sposed to shine with the recoil of these two rounds that I'd like to try out.  The 10mm especially.  But both are a tad bit more expensive then the X-Calibur so I'm just kinda waiting and watching.    k

looks like a double action  DA/SA with hammer cocking.  No striker???

I need the front grooves, as weakness means a two-handed rack.

looks nice.

Yup.  da/sa hammer fired.  It's considered a competition model of Grand Power's.  Delivers with two extra springs to tailor with the shooters preferred load.  It has a steel chassis to aid in accuracy.  The trigger is really nice.  I'm not into competition shooting but I spose all the options are there to allow for it using an X-Calibur, if one desires.    k

My type of weapons system.  Would be similar in function to my S&W 39, maybe slightly heavier.

I've toyed with having some grooves milled into the front of my slide, to let me two hand rack.  But that would change the slide weight enough, and I'd need a different new spring.  It shoots beautiful, so...if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Is it reasonably priced?

Got mine for under $740 in 2021.  I thought that was reasonable enough.  Auction on Gunbroker now has one with a starting bid of 850$.  Not sure why the increase over 2 years.?.?.?    k
