What is your prefered trigger pull weight for a hunting rifle?
My main hunting rifles have the triggers adjusted to right at 3 lbs. I have been reading that a lot of people have theirs adjusted less than that. Some at 2 lbs and a few less than that. How low do you feel comfortable with? |

On my varmint rifles light is best. about 1# use to go down to 6 ounces.
For big game 2# is preferred, but 3# is fine with me. For target 6 ounces again. And I must say, I do like double set triggers on big game rifles. If I get the time a super light set trigger is nice. Took a head shot with my 9.3x62 on an elk a few years back, used the set trigger offhand...90 yards

On my big boomers I like 3 pounds, 4 is fine too. Lighter guns I try to go down but NEVER under 2 pounds. I do wish I could get my shotguns down to around 3 or 4 pounds instead of 7 or 8. I "aim" them when I shoot coyotes and turkeys.

Interesting, I have a few double action revolvers and automatics.
I've found for me on these heavy trigger pulls, that I'm better "mashing" the trigger as quick as possible rather than squeezing it. ??????

Thanks for the replies.
I don't think I have ever adjusted anything below about 3 lbs. I have a couple that are easily adjusted. I'll go down to 2 lbs and try them out at the range.
