fellas... earlier this afternoon i filled out my app for elk. that's the first application of the year for me, and it started the bug to biting! pretty sure i won't draw (again), but my thoughts have turned to this fall's possibilities.

still have projects in various stages of completion (right now i am juggling a mauser, 700 lvsf 7-08, ar-15 h-bar, ar-15 lightweight, and 700 lvsf 22-250), but i need to go hunting! so... went out to the garage and topped off my supply of ammo... got 100 of each ready to go: 300 wsm, 300 win mag, 338 win mag, 7 rem mag, 30-06, 308, and 25-06. trying to wrap up the mauser and 7-08, and then i'll put 100 of each of those in the stockpile...

then, for prairie dogs, i have a few hundred (300 or more) ready to go for 308, 223, and 22-250. wish the weather could clear so i could get out of the garage and do something productive!

Hunting is not a matter of life or death; it is much more important than that.

I share the same feelings as you do dakota. Our draws are out this month too and im getting the itch. Always picking up a few things here and there months in advance. Sometimes at night when i close my eyes i picture myself on a hunt and i find it hard to sleep cause of the excitement and wishing the next day was opening day. I do however have Big Game Hunter and Deer Hunter software games to take the edge off.

If you can sue McDonalds for getting you fat then why can't you sue the alcohol companies for all the ugly people you ended up sleeping with?

Fella's;

I've wrapped up the whole application enchilada & sent it & my hard-earned funds into the state.  I'm using my landowner preference to assure myself of the antelope permit.  Put in for the moose draw, odds are about 50:1 & NOT in my favor.  Also put in for elk draw in three different areas, 1st, 2nd, & 3rd preference.  We shall see.

What with conservation, birds, points, & all that it's run me a little over $100.00 this year.  Next year I understand that it's gonna go up to about $125.00 & then $150.00 after that.

sd resident elk tag by itself is $155 + $5 application fee. you're gettin' off cheap in comparison.
