I'm tired, but I'm not complaining. Last night just before dark I introduced this bear to a 165gr. Interbond bullet out of my 30.06. It made for a late night, but I'm one happy-camper this morning. This bear broke a long jinx for me here in Montana and I'm thrilled to have him.

Congrats Big Sky. Thats a nice bear. I've been jinxed for the last 8 years when it comes to bears also. I've kind of given up on them for the time being, but I'll be back after them one of these days.

Great job Sky. Hey, I've been jinxed on Black bear for a long time. Just don't like shooting bear over baits. Haven't got one free roaming, but I might break down next year and hit a Canadian baited/bear hunt. Getting a rug made???? BEAR |

Bear, I say go for that Canadian bait hunt. I've hunted bears about every way you can do it, bait, dogs, calling, and spot and stalk. My favorite, by far, is baiting. I've done baiting both as a hunter on a guided hunt and as someone who did all the baiting myself. The best thing about baiting is you get bears up close and personal. Plus you usually have plenty of time to judge whether they have cubs or not, and you can judge their size and if they are rubbed or not. It is just a very pleasant way to hunt them.

Omega, let me put it this way I have quit looking for the perfect all-round game bullet for the animals I hunt in Montana. I killed 8 big game animals with it last year and had excellent performance. On the bear it blew his back bone right in two. I still haven't for the life of me figured out how he dropped at the shot, then leaped over the little bump of ground and out of my sight. He only went 8 to 10 feet, but with a completely severed back??? It just doesn't make any sense. The only way he could've done that was with his front legs, but even then it doesn't seem likely. All I know is what I saw and what the bullet did, although none of it adds up correctly.

I shoot the 165 IB in 308, 30/06 and 300 Win Mag. I'm a believer in the bullet. I was first imppressed with it during head to head tests against the TBBC, which in my opinion is/was the best bonded bullet out there. The IB does everything is does at less than 1/3 the price! I just need some 225 or 210 for my 338. |

Nice bear! The whole time I lived in MT, I was jinxed bear hunting. I would bump into them while scouting, but never see them when I could shoot one. Good Job!
