I have fished those two holes TasunkaWitko and will have to agree that they are pretty good.  I will be punching holes in the hard water in a few months.  Let me know if you are in town and want to pull some through the ice.

fresno  is a really good producer as well. if you know the geography of the reservoir, the best place is probably at the head of kiehn's (sp) bay. some people call it king's bay, not sure which is the "official" name.

anyway, just punch a hole through as high up the bay as you can get. there is really good cover there, provided by christmas trees which the fwp collected a few years ago and then wrapped up in bundles and tossed into that area. a lot of those trees still had tinsel on them, which attracted perch, which attracted walleyes and northerns. also, in the creek which provides the head of the bay, just a little ways up from the xmas trees, you will find some nice northerns in the spring.

heard lots of good reports from lake koocanusa and when i was a kid we would catch em all day long at fort peck, but i can't speak for the rest. living a bit farther west now, i am anxious to do more missouri river fishing as well as hit holter lake a few times this year!

mtmiller....i didn't make it up to the hi-line yet during hunting season the way i planned, but i will be trying to get up there sometime while tehre is still snow out. i'll drop by your office and see if we can't set up a time to sit out on the ice!

i grew up in havre and chinook, lived the last feew years in lewistown, and now live in great falls!

just out of curiosity, what brought you to the BaitShop? i have been posting flyers all over town, and last weekend, i stuck our web address unter the winshield wiper of a truck that was parked next to me at county market. the truck was plastered with stickers about......fishing!!

it's all in the name of "market research," ya know!!

i forget if it was ryan or morony dam, but a couple of years ago i fished just below one of them. there were a couple of old blackfoot guys there, and they told me what works and what doesn't since i had never fished there before. in less than an hour i had caught a nice smallmouth and had hooked an even nicer trout (managed to lose that one). always meant to go back there and spend a good afternoon fishing, but living in lewistown made it a pretty long drive. now that i live in the area, i think i'll be spending some afternoons there! we'll club cb900f over the head and bring him along too. if we can bring some beer and antelope chili, he just might be convinced to do it.

glad to see you here, and glad that my "advertising" paid off!

It had to be morony you cant get to the water at ryan dam. You don't need to come for smallies, you have the best spot in the state only 19 mi away from you.Make like your goung to Denton and stop when you cross wormsprings creek .You are there, at the bridge its state land on bouth sides of the road all you need is a state use permit and a worm woter fish endorcment and you can fish it to day!!! Its open all year. May be you mite think about LARGE mouth bass, any pond east of you or in the river is full of them.Just two weeks ago we were there fishing a pond by Zortman and getting 4&6 lbs bass ice fishing!!!!

next time i get over in that area, i'll be sure to check that bridge out. those smallies are DANG fine eating!

out here in centerville/sand coulee, it looks like it is mostly river/stream fishing up in the hills. i just moved here, so i am going to have to take some time to find all the good spots.
