My commute from work, home everyday takes me across some ranch land in West Texas. There is a 4.5 mile strip on the north side of the highway that only a few years ago had no prairie rats. But today they inhabit the entire 4.5 miles as far off the road as you can see. The hwy is littered with dead dogs. Finally last week I saw someone setup having some evening target practice. Other than that they are growing uncontrolled. Quite amazing that they have been allowed to take over that much land. |

Tee; So find out who owns it & go get permission for varmint control. I'd also ask if the owner regards PETA as varmints.

i can't remember the name, but I-90 runs along a 10 mile long PD town in the western part of SD. West of Dickenson. Looks to me like a massive soil tiling program or an eastern strip mine. Federal property no hunting the protected land. I hunt at a farm around there that the owner said when about 20 dogs moved into the pasture of his back porch, everyone loved to watche the cute things. But now it is about 100 unusable acreas. Even with me an others shooting everything that moves. you c an't seem to shoot them out anywhere. BEAR

teebog, just a little trivia, but did you know the biggest know prairie dog town was in Texas. One hundred miles x 250 miles and est. 400 million dogs. Bear, what is the protected public land you are referring to? Is that Teddy Roosevelt NP? I-94? |
