If you'all haven't seen it, the new Weatherby TRR (Threat Response Rifle) is a beauty . . . albeit a "little" pricey . . . what'd you expect?  Anyway. it has a Criterion heavy barrel, weird stock, and all the goodies anybody would want in such a rifle.  If you are expecting exotic chamberings . . . forget it . . . it comes only in .223 and .308!   $1624 Suggested Retail Price.

Course . . . you can get the "Custom" version in .30-378 for $2861.  Ouch!  If Dan wants to shoot on a windy day . . . I may have to get serious!

I guess I would still pick a Tikka Sporter in 6.5x55 when Dan and I have our big "Shoot Off" . . . even Weatherby has to bow to its "Superiors."

Come now pocketnavy, if you are gonna spend that much on a civilian/ law enforcment sniper rifle, why not just go with a proven one? Like this.... http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=9944290? Or go with this... http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=10048184. Maybe this... http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=10001433. OR this.. http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=9966507. You can pick any of these and it would be the same price as the Weatherby. or you could go cheaper... http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=10041300 <------ This is the one i would buy if i were a sniper, in a left handed config.

if anyone has any old m40-a1's laying around, i'll take one. between that and an m14/m1a, i imagine that i will be able to put up a fairly convincing response to any threat.
