Savage 340 trigger

I'm not any help. Is the trigger anything like the ones on a newer Savage?

Kind of late to the party, but have you spent some time on Lee Roy's pages concerning the Savage 340? On those pages you will see that there is nothing that can be done.

I've owned a couple of these, my first rifle was a 340. My current rifle has a 4# trigger, just luck of the draw.

Oh, moved off the ranch towards the end of COVID. Tired of working 24/7, but I do miss all the hunting and shooting. I still live on property in the country, but closer in than before.

Here is a Savage 340 Deer for you. Taken on a large, low-fence, South Texas ranch the first week of this December. I shot the deer at 35 yards. Ranch staff loved that I was hunting with a 30-30 Win.

This rifle did start with the factory open sights and eventually I added the Weaver side mount. Wild West Guns offered a "scout" barrel mount for the Win M94. After examining my M94, I thought I could make it work.

I have a bunch of scout rifles, including some custom builds from Robert Bose of NE. He suggested that I prep the area of the barrel where the mount would sit and epoxy the mount on the barrel. Its been 15 years or so and the rifle has never lost its zero. So, I didn't need to drill & tap the barrel. I was really worried about that as there isn't a lot of metal to work with.

I used Burris Signature Zee Rings with Inserts. These allow for correction of any alignment issues while keeping the crosshairs centered in the tube.

The scope is the Weaver Classic K4 Scout. I have a bunch of these as well and will by any I see. I don't understand why Weaver dropped it. I like it as it is a hunting scope, not a tactical scope.
