Clap A certain pair travled to MT to empty thery ammo larder. They had to endure harsh windy weather, Temps in to the 80's and mosquitoes that may have been blowen in from North Dakota.
But they battled through it in typical BSB fashion, and rose to the task.
But something still can make you scream like a girl.
After all day at the shooting bench, and getting ready to pack up they found they had one of the locals taking a snooze in there shade.

Confused

Just think how easy it would have been to kick or step on it while shooting...
They said it was shaking its tail darn hard.
One of the drawbacks of 50+ years of shooting, I can't hear them either...Confused

Dale,
I had been shooting at the bench for 1/2 hour or so at the same spot when you and I were together two days prior.  I got up, placed my rifle in the SxS,  removed the table top, then leaned over, pulled the seat pin and stepped away when I heard a very loud sound which thought were birds.  At the time I had only one ear working because I was charging the batteries for my cochlear implants so I couldn't tell where the sound was coming from.  Then I looked down about 4 feet from me and holy shit there he was under my shooting table just about 18 inches from where I had my hand to pull the pin from the seat pivot.  I about jumped out of my shoes.  I got Gary (IBD) over there, but he couldn't hear him.  (50 years of shooting too).
Was he there all of the time I was shooting?  All I know is it only took me about 1 minute to get off the table with the rifle, take the top off and remove the seat.
We shot lots of prairie dogs during the 8 days we were there.  Even with the wind and mosquitos I would rate it an A+ trip.

Bear,
The temperature was in the mid 80's and full sun.  I think he was looking for shade.

Lizard was damn LUCKY he was not struck when he reached down to pull the pin on the seat bar...or when his legs/feet were down there as he was sitting...we turn the table while sitting by "walking" around the center post to pivot the rifle bbl where we want to shoot....Very Close (Almost Deadly) Encounter I'd say but not the tragedy it could have been. I could not hear the "rattling" even when I walked up towards the table, close but not too close, as Lizard pointed the critter out to me. However, the entire adventure was A+ for us & we had plenty of trigger time ie targets shaped like p'dogs & wind & mosquitoes too. Pesky mosquitoes were really tuff to hit on the "fly" tho, we just couldn't keep the crosshairs on them.LOL
