Need recommendations on camping cots (AKA Army cots).

Will be for truck camping so weight isn't a big factor.  ease of set-up and comfortable sleep is.

OK
I don't have a COT.
https://www.thermarest.com/sleeping-pads/camp-and-comfort/luxurymap-sleeping-pad/luxurymap.html

The boy turned me on to this, when He is in a camp and does not have to carry it, He has a way smaller/lighter one for that.
I have one and use it when we camp in his toy hauler on the floor. I use it when I camp in the back of my truck on the bed covered with a tarp.
When I had a Suburban I used it there too.
Only problem is your sleeping on ground level when not in the truck/Sub. Mine is quite old and It takes a bit more then a "Few Breaths" to get it pumped up to normal size. Still WAY better then an air mattress.

I prefer a cot over an air mattress or pad because it's cold close to the ground. It's surprising how much warmer it is just a couple feet off the ground.

I'm not sure what brand I have but I got it at Sportsmans wearhouse. It's  pretty comfortable with the right pad between the cot and sleeping bag.
I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.

If you can find military surplus, do that.  They have a little better quality.

This is the style that I like....but, they like flat ground.

That is cheaper than Sportsmans Warehouse...Cabelas will be even more.

Put a pad on the cot...foam rubber is best.  Cot are easier to get in to, and easier to get out of than climbing up from the ground.  You can also just buy a mattress.

Interesting, those mil issue are just like my old ones from 1955. Except seems like the structure is metal with plastic fabric.  My old ones were oak, with cotton canvas tops.

Those can be difficult to stretch to get the two end pieces  connected.

I sleep on them many, many nights.

To stretch the canvas....you put the thing together w/the cot standing up.

You put one side on, and then push on the other side w/ur foot

If that doesn't work, don't put the end piece in.  You put it through the fabric and below the side rails.  After a nights sleep on it, it stretches.  Usually, I would start out w/one end on, and one end below the ends.  That way it is being stretched.

A  few times, I couldn't get the cot set-up and I'd have both ends below the side rails.  It works just fine dat way.

Good thoughts stinky.  never occurred to me to just put them below and let my body stretch the canvas.

I have a commercial version of the old canvas & wood frame army cot Bear referenced. It has metal frame and synthetic fabric of some kind but still very hard to put the ends on. over sized from army cots too. Comfortable. Also have a -30* sleeping bag too. But definitely not the setup for backpacking!!!!  Only used in base camp but resorted to a air mattress & sleeping bag for the spike camps.
Also have to original army cots but haven't used them since getting the modern version.

The only sure thing is I'll not be getting any " but still very hard to put the ends on".  I've done that too many times.  especially  at dusk when trying to set up before dark  ugh!

Like this one so well I bought two, even let Deaddog test it.

even his snoring didn't disturb the cot.

It is heavy but extremely comfortable.   21 nights test, I give it a 5 star.

one blue and one gray.  comes with small matress, and I put my blue cat pad under that.  very  very comfortable.

I've not abandoned  our 'Surburban' camping yet.  that is fast for just one night, but a little uncomfortable for this old dude..

Byers Easy Cot looks nice, but I pasted on it.

I wanted something with more legs so as to distribute the weight on my sewed in floor.  E C has six legs, the SLY has ten legs with each leg pad being larger, which is about 75% less weight on floor legs.    So, there are no imprints on vinyl floor after 5 nights sleep.

Not that I'm  heavy weight, but pasta does add up!

That looks really comfy.

I meant to ask you how you slept on it but I must have got side tracked.
