NOPE, sorry.
In my 8mmrem mag we find reloader 26 ( if you can find any) and a 220gr Serra is out standing. I push it at 3200 fps. But it has a much larger case capacity. I use a Barnes 200 gr and get 3300 fps. I do notice a little better group ay 500 yards with the Serra but still about 5".

Thoughts, the XPR is a new design, unlike the historic M70. It seems to include all the current 'want list' of features. The adjustable trigger is praised, but unfortunately it has a serious problem.
"Winchester has recalled all of their XPR rifles due to a potential safety issue, and has issued a strong safety notice. According to Winchester's recall notice, “XPR rifles have the potential to fire an unintended round when the safety switch is manipulated." If you got a brand new rifle, the problem might be fixed. If it is an older rifle, I'd contact winchester with the s.n. and check if it is safe. many winchester products are made by Miroku factory, in Japan; this one is not. It is made in Viana, Portugal; seems Japan quality got too expensive. I've killed over 2 dozen big game with the 338 win mag, IMHO a very good cartridge, accurate and powerful. I have a savage 110 and a Ruger 77. I don't shoot copper bullets so can help with you choice of Barnes 210gr. I shoot Hornady 220 grain and both my rifles like IMR 4895. The Hornady works great on deer , bear, giant Kudu. I have a lot of faith in Winchester, so I think you will like the xpr and the 338 win mag. |
