My Granddaughter is away at girl scout camp for a week. SO I nabbed her 6.5 and tried some test loads. I was not happy with the 130's I got, the boys Howa mini shoots them fine but his barrel is 2" longer, and he bedded the stock.
We had some 120's loaded for the AR 6.5 I tried them and they shoot acceptable but still looking for better. I got some sst 123's my boy loaded some with IMR 8208 and cfe 223. Two of the 223 shot well one was a no go. The 8208 shot noticeably better two where keepers and one sucked. A little work with the winner should make groups under 1/2".
Our existing hunting load 120's.
223 loads 123 gr

8208's 123 GR
This was the best of the best.
Wingmaster asked if there was a brass we could make 6.5 Grendel from.
Yes neck down "BRASS" 7.62X39
Then fire form the shoulder.
I shot some to fire form and what ever he used to form shot well, probably quite slow, just enough to form. But at 100 yards it shot dang good.

My many trips out to the target I picked a bunch of shot shell hulls mostly Federal target and Winchester X target. I got 80 1 1/4 oz. #5's 1350 FPS.

It looks like you're going to find a very acceptable load.

I'm assuming 7.62X39 brass should be plentiful. Unless everyone shoots steel cased ammo.

I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.

I shoot Hornady 123 gr SST in my 6.5.  It shoots lights out and kills DRT.
