any shooters here? If so,what makes it better than standard .223,,,I have heard some outrageous claims by PROponents.

Most AI cartridges give "about" a 100 fps gain over the parent.  Outside of the velocity increase, the biggest advantage is that you can shoot the parent cartridge with no problems.  Of course, there may be POI issues.  Then, if you retreive the brass, you've got the fire-formed  brass to reload to AI specs.

For cartridges with lots of body taper, the AI is a good deal.  Cartridges like the 30-40, 257, 300 H&H etc.  But for modern cartridges it make no sense.

I have one, and a reamer if someone is looking for one, I see a very slight gain in FPS, what I do like about it the cases dont stretch near as bad once they are a little, straighter.

 

just for info sake P.O. Ackley did NOT create this case, it was done after his death but follows his practices.

 

PO did not think much of the 223 at all, he felt there were other high speed 22's on the market allready that did it much better.
