I just read in the Feb '10 Shooting times that they are marketing a line of binocs, 2 listed, spotting scope and rangefinder under the REDFIELD banner.......ALL of them imported......telling us up front about these.  No details as none seem to have hit the market yet.  This was included with their report on the Redfield 3x9x40 scope that is on the market here.

I suspect that Leupold wanted to keep it's trademark Leupold and "american" line; so it just transferred their imported binocs to the product name Redfield.

I got a PM from Steve Timm the other night about the Redfield line. He hasn't seen one yet but he got a call from Chub Eastman at Nosler who is testing it right now. Chub is overly impressed. He say's it'll probably run Bushnell and Nikon right out. It is not made oversea's, it is made in Beverton, Ore. As I recall the price range was $175 - $225. Come's with a lifetime warrenty and undergoes the same test's that all Leupolds undergo. I find one I'm gonna get one. Years ago when Redfield was in Denver it was m y hands down favorite scope. Still using two of them today tha I bought new in 1970.

more info on the Redfield line from Leupold

For more than 100 years, Redfield has built an American hunting legacy. Now, as part of the Leupold family, this American legend is looking to another century of hunting.

Based in Oregon, the original home of founder John C. Redfield, we've rededicated ourselves to his vision: no-nonsense optics for everyone. Focused on that goal, we've made top-notch optical equipment accessible to every American hunter. With Redfield, outdoorsmen across this great land can fill their tag without breaking the bank.

Redfield represents the millions of American hunters who make this sport great. Those who scout, set up blinds, and wake long before dawn. Redfield optics are for people serious about their hunts, because we're serious about our hunting too. Whether you're after a trophy buck or a full freezer, Redfield optics get the job done, season after season.

The Redfield Gun Sight Company was founded in 1909 by John Hill Redfield. The company designed and manufactured quality equipment that hunters and shooters trusted for accurate, rugged and reliable sighting. The company's product line grew over the years from the original innovative line of open sites to include riflescopes, mounts and eventually binoculars and spotting scopes. In 1998 Redfield closed its doors in Denver, Colorado marking the end of an era but leaving behind an undeniable legacy of manufacturing quality products for the American Sportsman. The Redfield name changed hands several times over the next ten years but never realized its potential to once again become a prominent brand among outdoor enthusiasts.

In April of 2008 Leupold & Stevens, Inc. purchased the brand name Redfield and all the intellectual property associated with Redfield Optics. Leupold & Stevens, Inc. is a market leading American-owned and operated optics company. Friedrich Leupold founded the company in 1907 in Portland, Oregon just a few short miles from its current location in Beaverton, Oregon. Now in its fifth generation, the family owned company employs over 650 people at its state-of-the-art facility where it designs, manufactures and assembles its famous line of "Golden Ring" sports optics. Leupold products are sold worldwide to hunters, wildlife observers, competitive shooters, law enforcement officers and special operations military personnel. The product line includes rifle, handgun and spotting scopes; binoculars; rangefinders; flashlights; mounting systems; and optical tools and accessories.

Warranty Information

When Leupold purchased Redfield in April, 2008, Leupold did not assume the Redfield warranty. Because many Redfield customers have contacted Leupold with regard to the former Redfield warranty, Leupold is making this information available to Redfield optics owners.

At this time, three Redfield repair facilities are available should your Redfield product require service: Parson's Scope Service (513-867-0820), ABO USA Inc (305-859-2010) and Iron Sight Inc. (918-445-2001). The contacts provided are for information purposes only, as these companies are not affiliated with Leupold & Stevens. Please contact them for all information regarding repair, service, and associated charges.

As a courtesy we are now offering 20% off the price of a new Leupold scope, up to $100, in trade for any defective Redfield scope. If you would like to take us up on that offer you may call us at 1-800-LEUPOLD.

From design to assembly to final testing, more than 600 people are at the heart of our plant near Beaverton, Oregon. With countless years of experience, these men and women instill Redfield with passion, pride, and hard work.

Redfield is a brand of Leupold & Stevens, Inc., the most prominent American owned and operated optics company. Visit leupold.com to learn more about quality Leupold products available for hunters, shooters, wildlife observers and tactical groups.

My just arrived Cabela's Shooting Catalog has the entire Redfield line listed.  Retail prices look pretty darn good too.  Has anyone got their hands on one of the new scops yet?  I have an ancient Redfield in 4x and it's still good.

I ordered a new 2-7X Matt black w/ d4plex ret yesterday from Midway. Not in their catalog yet but ask. $129.and some change. $8 and change shipping. Won't be here till aprox March.

Leupold has a program to trade in pre 2010 Redfields. Thought about it but not long. I have a 1-4x I bought new in the late 60's and a 2 3/4x Widefield I bought new about 1971. Couldn't give me enough to part with one of them.

Is that old Redfield 4X a Denver scope? If so are you willing to get rid of it?

i'd been looking at redfield's revolution 4-12x40 with their accu-range reticle.  looked through one of their 3-9x40 models at our fall gun show and was impressed with it.  i was going to put it on a savage .325wsm that had strayed onto the used rack at one of our local shops.  thought the combo would have made an interesting hunting package.  i thought to long about it and the darn rifle got bought out from underneath me.  still like the idea of getting the scope but need something to put it on now.  i did think there was something about that accu-range reticle that was a little hokie for some reason.  can't put my finger on it, though.  something about that big circle in the middle of everything.  can't figure out if that would be more hinderence then help in the field.  i imagine i'll be testing it out in the near future.  with the scopes selling as reasonably as they are, no sense not trying one once a new rifle finds its way into my safe.

In 1963 I had a scope made for me with crosshair (yep actually spider silk).  It had two crosshairs one for 0-200 yards and the second for 350 yds.  Mounted it on a heavy barrel sako, for varmints.  Still  have that scope.  BUT, I found out in a year or two the number of times my brainwas using the wrong sigt picture.  Now, I'm a no mil-dot nor any other distraction.  my laser range finder does the distance finding, and I take it from there with the drop chart I have taped on the butt stock.
