Supposed to warm up now so I'm going to try ice fishing next week. There was a lot of slush a few weeks ago, I'm hoping this last sub-zero blast froze that up. Hopefully it don't get so warm the lakes start flooding again. With any luck I'll have pictures to post when I get back.

bill - our weather has been about the same as yours - subzero followed by a few warm days to sluch it up followed by arctic blas that froze everything solid as granite. should be good weather for getting on the ice, but i haven't heard any reports from around here lately.

They are still catching them around here. Although with the cold you have to work for them. The bite should start picking up now in Feb., it usually does.

I haven't been able to catch a break. As soon as I got to my parents to do some ice fishing with my dad the thermometer took a dive in the negative numbers again. I had to get back to my place Wednesday. And what do you know a warm up. If the weather will give me a break I'm trying again next week.

Well now we have been getting rain since Monday AM. Not steady but enough to melt about 6 in. of snow give or take. That should slush up the lakes big time. It's not looking good for getting any ice time this year. Maybe it will get cold enough to freeze the slush so I can get out yet.

Guess I haven't been here in a while. I did finally get out in late Feb. two times. Got skunked the first day out on waukenabo. Fish on the Vex steady. They just wouldn't bite. Second day went to esquagama. Took some time to find the right depth. The Vex showed fish close to the bottom, but they wouldn't bite. I tried 5 ft. off bottom and got busy catching Crappie real quick. We ended up with 15 in a hour and a half. Funny thing everybody abandond the 30 ft. hole, we were along the north shore straight out from the landing. My dad wanted to go try the 30 ft. hole. But I figured we'd waste our time there that there must be a reason nobody was there.
It was just a bad year for me to get out icefishing. Hopefully I get to spend more time on the ice next season. Bill |
