feathers vs vanes

   Picked up some new arrows today, I grabbed some Easton Lightspeeds
FWIW. They have plastic feathers that on at a slightly more noticeable
angle than usual. Maybe the extra spinn will help consistent flight? I
know they keep seperating for one reason or another but always lay back
down, but does this ever seem to effect accuracy at all? Prior to these
I've always had vanes and am a little curios. I shot them a little and
they seem to be pretty accurate, more so than the cheapy carbons I
have, but I haven't put much time into them yet. I know Spot, your
going to yell at me for not getting the ones from ebay, but I owed my
local shop some business, he can use the $$ beter than a wholesale
dealer 

Also, what other comments do you guys have pro/con feathers and vanes?

	bk: vanes fly faster than feathers. do you know if the feathers are righ or left or strait ???? most say for a compound you shoot strait fletch. left is mostly for stick bow shooters so the arrow twist away from the rest. is you get a bad flight you night want to try a 4 fletch arrow. anthan has been playing with a 2 fletched arrow. you would not beleave how they fly. people look at him like he is nuts, but the fly good. i havent seen plastic feathers??? but i know if real feathers get matted down all you have to do is hold them over steam and they come dack to shape..

	BK, I've wasted more money than any half brain'd idgit should be allow'd. Don't think i rightly can accuse you of doin' worse. I straight fletch mine with a grayling type rig... I order shaft's and do you own work to "save money". Spot

	Yea, I know, just playing spot. They are pricey arrows, but he actually has them cheaper than most catalog places. Maybe if I start really getting into it I'll start making my own costom stuff, might take up video in the winter and 3d some time soon. Lots of archery stuff around here so the sky's the limit.

	BK, I vote feathers - they don't drag on the "wisker bisquit" on my bow like vanes do. They are more work, and don't like water (rain or fallin in rivers) but other than that they keep the balance point forward and slice through the air better. Spot

	spot: ive got some magic powder that i put on my feathers.... i cant remember what its called but it works good.. you can put your finger in it and then stick it in water and it looks like you have a rubber coating on it. keep feathers nice and dry. the only problem is when you get a pass threw shot blood dosnt stay on the feathers. and for the wisker bisqit rest. up here if the get wet the have a chance of freezing up on you.

	The determination of plastic vanes or feathers depends upon the type of rest you use. shooting off an arrow shelf will not accept the plastic. They don't fold down as the arrow passes along. I use feathers on my long bow and my recurve bows, as they have soft arrow shelf rests My recurve I use plastic, as the rest is a thin wire and the plastic vane doesn't touch anthing as the arrow flys by. (Golden Key) I use plastic on the cross bow (but could use feathers) because the trak is tough and the down vane takes a beating. What kind of res t are you using??? BEAR

	i keep mine simple.. i use a flipper rest. ther kids all use the tm hunter .
