Yesterday, I bought, from a friend, a set of KOWA spotting scopes set up like binoculars. They mount on my tripod, and are as clear as a bell. Very relaxing to look through too. They are not recommended for carrying around while hunting because of the weight, but for range and competition work, I don't think there is anything better. Prior to this, I have been using a Bushnell Space Master. It's a great scope and I have been using it for 25 years. It is variable from 15x to 45X with an angled eyepiece. It's small enough to keep handy in the truck. I also have a Unertle 20X that I got on a trade a while back, along with a Leupold Armor plated (rubber coated) spotter scope. The Kowa's are a welcome addition though...........................Kingpin

those kowas are set up in a big-eye arrangement? i've been wanting that exact set-up for sometime now. just can't afford to do that. i've also seen big-eye set ups w/ very expensive swarovski's... very impressive.
i'd like your thoughts on the big-eye arrangement for long range target work - how well can you resolve bullet holes at what range?

I actually didn't get a DEAL on them, but they were lightly used and not abused. A friend of mine asked me if I wanted them. He said that I could have first crack at them, but he was going to sell them because he was in a little financial trouble and needed cash. He was going to advertise them for $2200, but gave them to me for $1800. He is free and clear and want's to buy them back as soon as he gets back on his feet. I told him that I am not a pawn shop, but if he wanted a set, he could just as easily buy a new set.......when he got on his feet, as mine are not for sale. As far as resolution goes, I haven't fired them up as yet. From what I remember from using them in the past though, 300 yard bullet holes were no problem at all. I like them especially for doping wind. Subtle changes come through at full volume. I will keep you posted when I fire them up for real, the first time.............Kingpin

yeah, do let me know. big-eyes look cool, and i think it would save me tons of leg work if i could set them up at the 5 or 600 yard line and clearly see bullet holes at 1000.
