Pa has a limited Elk season.  Tags are tough to draw but the elk are very large.  A new first :

When Janet Gruber received the letter informing her that she had drawn a Pennsylvania elk license, she was too excited to even notice if her tag was for a bull or a cow.

There's no confusion now.

Gruber -- an Ellwood City resident who began hunting just three years ago, and has yet to kill her first deer -- bagged a 6X7, 707-pound bull elk Monday, the first day of the state's third annual elk season. It was the second of 15 bulls that had been checked in as of Thursday.

What's even more noteworthy is that Gruber is the first woman to harvest a bull elk in Pennsylvania in modern times.
