Seem to have an infestation of the buggers around here. Never hunted them but started dodging them on the road near the house. Momma and five little ones in the neighbors yard and several singles about. Tips on removal of them would be appreciated.

For years I trapped them. If you see 10, you have 30+.
I use a large Have-a-heart trap, then shoot them. I start on april 1st trying to help wild turkey nest/eggs. I get one every other day for 2 months, about 30+. I get cheapo fish based cat food (Alde) and bait in front of and inside the trap with spoonful sized pieces of cat food. 22 short to the head when inside the trap, bye, bye. I also use to use leg hold traps. Just gave 100 traps away to friendly farmers. The trap called the 'coon collar' works great it baited with one sardine (also good to attract bears). Pelts are not worth much now.

I have herd a nice big white marshmallow is the coon getter up here.
Drop one in to a coon cuff and it reaches in to get it,snap. It is in to deep to let the coon chew off it's leg.

Yep but the cat food and sardines work better as they have ssmell that carries 20+ foot; brings them in. if on a lawn the capture baox traps result in less ground damage. leg hold traps mean a 3+ foot circle of torn up grass/sod. they never stop trying to escape.

Should have mentioned 30% of coon have rabies where I live. Any daytime show is either rabies or poison. As a trapper, and hunter of strange places; I got my rabies shots about 8 years ago. technically they want a booster evry 2 years; but vacine lasts about 10 years (90% effective). Gave up trappin actively, so probably will not get another $$$.
Coons have sharp needle like teeth and are very strong...trust me. Should you get bite, at least cut the head off and put in zip lock bag in freezer. If, Brain tissue test are needed.
