What do you use for bore solvent?

I'm not a big fan of cleaning guns so I'm looking for something that will take copper out of the bore faster and easier.

I've used Butches Bore Shine, Sweets 7.62, and Hoppes and they all work pretty good but I can't imagine theirs not something better out there.

Sweets works good but it also seems to be pretty harsh. At least it smells that way.
I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.

Butches Bore Shine is what we use.
Kristopher does it by the #'s and it works very good.
I on the other hand am like you, cleaning sucks.
I slather a bunch on a brass brush with some cleaning patches rapped around it.
Run it through a few times then just the brush.
I have a bore snake for each chambering.
I put on a bunch of "Rem" oil on the front of the snake and run it through two times and call it good.
I have always herd you don't need to get out all the lead and copper.

I always foul with two shots before I need to shoot it.Big smile

I use patches soaked with solvent and a jag. I run a patch through the bore and let it sit a few minutes then run another wet patch. This can go on for 10 or 15 patches and they still come out blue. Then I run a few dry patches then a lightly oiled patch. I don't think I have ever completely got every bit of copper out. But like you said I don't think it has to be completely gone. The first shot will put some back.

I have a few buddies that shoot long range competitions. They say they don't clean their guns until accuracy starts to fall off. 80 to 100 rounds. Do you think that's often enough?

I normally clean my rifles that have more than 25 rounds through them and at the end of the season.
I use Wipe Out.  I first run a couple of wet patches to loosen up the carbon and  powder residue.  Then I then use a nylon brush to loosen up more fouling.  Then run dry patches until they come clean.  Then I run a wet patch of Wipe Out again.  I let it soak again for a while.  Then I continue with wet patches, soaking, and wiping clean until no more blue shows up on the patches.  Lastly if I'm not going to use the rifle soon I run a patch with Rem oil.  Yes, I go through lots of patches.  If I'm in a hurry I use Wipe Out Accelerator to speed up the process. It's a long process, but it works for me.  When I brought a rifle to  my gunsmith for some work on he looked through his bore scope and was amazed just how clean my barrel was.
Does everyone clean a new rifle before you use it? I never used to, but now I do.  I was amazed (actually disappointed) as to how much crud was in a new rifle barrel.
Trigger Control is knowing when not to pull it.

Thanks for the input.

I guess I'll keep doing what I'm doing. It seems to work. It would be interesting to see how long it takes to get a clean wet patch. I don't think I have ever done that.

As far as the front porch, I'll keep this in mind. You never know when a good sweeping of the porch might be in order.
