guys and gals

i have added a new forum called keeping the faith to the coffee corner here at the baitshop. this is a place to post something that tikka found called the daily sportsmen's devotional, but also a place to discuss matters of faith, different religions etc.

i know that everyone here realizes there are many different ways to worship out there, and i trust everyone to have some mutual respect for the faiths of others! at the same time, i see great potential for fellowship and for interesting dialogue.

i've also asked tikkabuck to keep an eye on this forum, to post the daily devotionals and help see that things go smoothly there. tikka's been here with us at BSB and has always been a positive influence. thanks, mike!

on another note, i am thinking hard about moving the threads ont he "local interest" forums and getting rid of them. these forums have never really taken off and it seems we might as well get rid of them and post issues on a certain state, province or country in a place like "hunting," "fishing" etc.

i welcome discussion on these proposals and appreciate your support.

May I suggest a  legislative update forum, this would be a forum to post upcoming legislation, that maybe of interest.

We could also have a Political forum, this would free up Roll call for other things, besides politics.

it might not be a bad idea, robert - we had a political forum long ago and it diodn't work out too well, but that was before things really got rolling with bush etc.

also, it would be a good place for firearms-related political discussion.

what say y'all? keep political topics in the roll call or move them to their own area? i can go either way and am willing to give it a shot if the board wants to.

I've long been an advocate of a political forum.. It would have to be enter at your own risk and if you don't like it don't bitch and moan to the admins, just don't go there. At the same time admins would have to allow those of the opposite political view to have at it. A moderater free environment for the most part otherwise it won't work and crap will spill over into the rest of the forum. At the same time everybody keep their shit flinging there leaving the rest of the site to function "normally".

I think a political room would be good too, but I would be willing to bet that politics will surface in other rooms from time to time. I like the idea of a political room, as long as it has the same header that Roll Call has. Maybe something of a forboding header..........................Kingpin

This should get interesting. Religious debates can also get very heated. I'm going to start taking bets on how long it takes for someone to say the wrong thing or gets quoted the wrong way before the plug gets pulled. I believe people are entitled to practice their faith no matter how they believe but others may not share the same feeling as me so as Michael Buffer would say,
"Let's get ready to Rumble".

You take that back Gary!!! Your just being judgmentel!!

The trick is to remember that in politics and faith. Respect!! Just because the other guy has a different view doesn't mean he is a bad guy.

as of today, the local interest forums are history, and i see no reson to bring them back. anything that would be posted there can be handled under the hunting, fishing, political or conservation forums.

i also deleted the "bsb link." it's something that really only gets used once a year and could be handled via pm anyway.

i would cut the "NEW MEMBERS PLEASE READ," but i figure that needs to be there in case they have questions as to why they can't post. my hope is that they see that up on top and figure it out right away.

any other suggestions for thinning out a bit? can any be folded into other forums?

the "sports" category has been deleted, but all sports-related topics can still be found in the BSB roll call!

I would like to see a music section to if it wouldn't be to much to ask. Most people I know like if not love one form of music or several. I personaly like almost all music exept old country and Rap/hip hop, Disco/ techno. Love Rock, hard rock, metal, heavy metal, Some "death" metal, newer country, and lots of the big band, blues, and classical.

So a music forum would be cool at least to me.

MM - i usually put any music entries in the "western history, poetry etc." forum. if you look through tehre you'll see mostly a bunch of old country, but also a few from steve earle, jimi hendrix and others! if you ahve any music-related topics, go ahead and put them there!

OK I did ever go there cause of the title. Two things I'm not to much into. Western and Poetery. Regular poetry is OK, but I'm lost with Western Stuff. Hell you would never geuss I'm from a farm/ranch would ya

I have had some good times sitting round listening to old cowboys swap stories. Some of the exspressions they use slay me! Rattlin hocks, Raining sideways like a cow pissin on a flat rock! Those are good memories. I miss summers at the ranch, and I sure miss grandad, and grandma. Fishing in the resivoir. Skinnin crappie all afternoon. and hunting bunnies and quail around the farm yard with grandma's old single shot 22lr. Oh the good old days!
